Drake

    Aubrey Drake Graham was born October, 24, 1986 to Sandi and Dennis Graham in Toronto, Ontario. Aubrey grew up with an African-American catholic father and a white, Jewish, Canadian mother. His father was a drummer for Jerry Lee Lewis a, very successful artist as well as multiple other musicians. His mother was also an early elementary school teacher. However his parents would divorce when he was 5. His mother would continue to raise him in the Forest Hills neighbourhood of Toronto a Jewish lifestyle. He attended a Jewish day day school until high school where he attended the Forest Hills Collegiate Institute. This is where Drakes success would begin to unfold. Aubrey was a very funny and charismatic character , although he was often bullied at school for his mixed upbringing.

 

   Aubrey began his acting career and rise to fame at age 15, netting his first role as Jimmy Brooks on the hit TV drama, Degrassi: The Next Generation. He would play many other roles between 2001-2009. This brought him unto the Canadian entertainment scene very. With the momentum off his acting career he would start getting into the music industry releasing his debut mixtape "Room For Improvement" in 2006. This would begin Aubrey's transformation from acting  to music where he'd be known by the name were all familiar with today, Drake.

   Drake would quickly gain popularity because of his multiple collaborations with big artists like Lil Wayne and hit songs "Replacement Girl" and "Best I Ever Had" off of "Comeback Season (2007)" and "So Far Gone (2009)" respectively. This would propel him into releasing his first studio album "Thank Me Later (2010)" . It was at this point that many consider Drake hit the point of superstardom. This album carried everything needed for a quality platinum album and yet Drake would have much much more to offer to the music industry in years to come. Drake would release the much anticipated album "Take Care" in 2011. It was here that Drake truly found his sound and would base much of the music he released in the future off of it. As of today its still charting in the top 200 albums and a certified multi platinum album. It would also win him his first Grammy award for Best Rap Album.

 Drake would spend the next 2 years, quietly working on his next album "Nothing was The Same (2013)". It would drop and also go multi platinum producing hits like "Started From the Bottom" and "Hold on, Were Going Home". Drake would collaborate and many other songs over the next two years and release a few singles leading into to the release off 2 mixtape in a year. "If Your Reading This It's Too Late" in February 2015, the trap based sound that came with anthems like "Energy", "6 God" and "Legend". Drake road the wave of hype off his mixtape and win in the "Weak" Mill feud to release the result of a 6 day studio session with Atlanta rapper Future, "What a Time To Be Alive" in September 2015. The mixtape was more or less a victory lap for the 2 rappers who had remarkable 2015's. This album had rap hits like "Jumpman" and "Big Rings". At this point Drake was more or less cruising as king of the rap/hip hop game. This would give him the freedom to experiment with a new sound and he did just that with the grand entrance into the pop scene, "Hotline Bling". This song would open him up into popular mainstream music culture, effectively making him one of the most recognizable faces in music.

   Drake however planned on taking no breaks whatsoever and dropped the much anticipated "VIEWS" album in April 2016. This album was a massive success in every way and one of the greatest seen in the 21st century. It produced countless popular songs like "One Dance" which dominated the charts and radios all summer. As well as "Too Good", "Pop Style" and "Controlla" all of which helped Drake tighten his forceful grip on the music industry.

   Today Drake is busy touring in Europe and working oh his new project More Life rumoured to drop on March 4th. Drake today not only is a forceful and popular musician but also has his own record label, clothing line and whiskey brand. Drake is only 30 and has made it clear that he has no plans off slowing down, so if your not already used to Drakes face all over entertainment you might wanna get used to it.
